INSTALLATION:
ENGINE SENSORS

Installing the coolant temp. sensor

Drill and tap the lower part of the thermostat housing.
Drill:37/64 (use 1/2 and file some) Tap:3/8 NPT pipe tap.

Installing the map sensor

Connect a vacuum line from the map to any manifold vacuum source.
Note: some of the nipples on the TBI are port vacuum
and have no suction at idle, use another nipple.

Installing the oil switch

Use a 1/8 pipe thread "tee" to install the
oil pressure switch under the oil pressure gauge sender.

Installing the oxygen sensor

Drill and tap the exhaust manifold for the oxygen sensor. Tap:18 mm x 1.5 Drill: 15.5mm (0.604") A smaller hole opened up using an air die grinder with a carbide burr works well.

A thread chaser like this one, available at most auto parts stores can be used if no tap is available. The thread may need to be started with a 1/2 pipe tap.
Alternately, an O2 sensor bung cam be installed on the exhaust pipe. Note: closer to the engine is better for sensor warm up.

Installing the vehicle speed sensor

Click to go to VSS installation guide

The inline installation of the Vehicle Speed Sensor is a probably the hardest task in an EFI converion. A vehicle will run without it, but the fuel will continue injecting on decelleration, sometimes causing backfiring or stalling.

An alternate VSS: magnets on the driveline

This solution is easier, but more exposed to the elements.
